About me…

Hi there! I’m Samantha Stokes, the founder of Cooper Accounting. I launched my business in January 2020 after gaining the qualifications and experience I needed to run a successful accounting practice.

After running my own successful business in Calderdale, I recognised a passion within myself for numbers and collaboration with other entrepreneurs, and so took the decision to re-train as an Accountant in order to pass on my knowledge and experience to others.

Passion, experience, knowledge

Fuelled by a desire to help others thrive in business, I completed a three-year course to gain my AAT Accounting Qualification (Level 4), passing 16 exams along the way, all while raising a family.

I also completed numerous additional courses to further my knowledge, including becoming a Xero Certified Advisor and completing 4 Chartered Accountancy exams with the ACCA.

I supplemented my studies by gaining valuable industry experience with a well-respected Brighouse accountancy firm, managing aspects including bookkeeping, payroll and VAT returns, while more recently furthering my knowledge of the challenges being faced by local businesses with a significant period serving as Accounts Manager for a leading West Yorkshire-based industrial flooring business.

Cooper Accounting is built as a result of an acquired passion, experience and knowledge in accounting.

Tackling modern challenges

Nobody could have predicted what would follow as the Coronavirus pandemic swept the UK a few short months after Cooper Accounting was established.

The effects of the pandemic, which saw many firms forced to close their doors temporarily and others go out of business completely, is enough to threaten the ambition of any young entrepreneur, but I recognised that the support Cooper Accounting could offer businesses would become more crucial than ever.

With a passion for helping business owners and sole traders equip themselves to meet challenges and grasp available opportunities, Cooper’s client base grew to include work with organisations from a wide range of sectors, and with a variety of challenges and ambitions.

Cooper Accounting has worked with entrepreneurs at the very start of their journey who require support turning their own passion into a viable operation, as well as more experienced operators eager to take the next steps on their journey or adapt to meet the ever-changing challenges of 2020.

Current clients include gym owners and personal trainers, café owners, plant nurseries, furniture manufacturers, maintenance engineers, hairdressers, builders and many more, working in all kinds of environments and facing all types of challenges.
