Tony Johnson has worked at P B Horticultural Limited in Huddersfield since 1976 when he left school. After years of hard work, starting as an apprentice, today Tony is now the managing director. In his 45 years working at P B Horticultural, he has been involved in every aspect of the business which sees them assisting their customers with a wide range of services.
Working with builders, landscapers, building contractors, local authorities, health authorities and on occasion the public, Tony and his team deliver plants and tree shrubs to their customers. Tony’s career has seen him deliver private landscaping work, installing sheds and greenhouses and working with customers to source the greenery they require.
It is not possible to physically grow every plant and tree that they provide their customers with so, P B Horticultural buy from around Europe and sell back into the trade here in the UK as well as to other wholesale nurseries.
Working with Cooper Accounting
For a number of years, P B Horticultural had a member of staff looking after their bookkeeping, when they moved on however, it was becoming apparent that they needed assistance with their accounts. Tony was subsequently recommended Samantha at Cooper Accounting and the rest is history.
Looking after the bookkeeping, credit control, sales invoices, bank reconciliations, monthly statements, UK supplier and international supplier payments, payroll and VAT returns, Samantha at Cooper Accounting has helped P B Horticultural with many aspects of their business accounts.
As Tony and his team buy plants from Italy, France and Holland, Cooper Accounting organises the foreign payments and “goes above and beyond what you would normally expect”. Samantha and the Cooper Accounting team also provide advice about government business incentives to help them make the most of their finances and business opportunities.

P B Horticultural Limited Future Plans
Tony and the business have exciting plans for the future for P B Horticultural Limited. They’ve growth from strength to strength over the years and they still have plans to do more. At some point down the line, the company would like to open a customer friendly cash and carry so that they can also service the general public more frequently. Of course, Cooper Accounting will be on board to help with this in any way they can.
